About Me
I am the CEO of Dormbuys.com. We are a one-stop shop for anything and everything students need living in the dorm. We are 100% online and ship all over the country. We are a fast-growth company and always looking for new opportunities.
My Business
Dormbuys.com
My expertise, what I bring to the table
I am extremely passionate about entrepreneurship and leadership. Leadership is a skill. I disagree with many that want to believe that people are born with it. Just like listening, it is a skill that must be developed over time. I am also a person that believes in the power of relationships. I try to become more than a figure-head with employees, suppliers, and vendors by actually engaging with them whenever I can. The relationship side of business sometimes goes forgotten.
My Goals
My goals are to gain as much knowledge as possible from as many different sources as I can that will better me as a person and as a CEO. Most of my waking hours are spent learning whatever I can that I believe will help my business succeed.
My Defining Moment
Sitting in a dump truck with a driver from my father's company that told me how my dad took a chance on him and saved his life!
Who I'm looking to meet
Anyone....I believe I can learn anything from anybody. Whether a college student, the janitor in the building, or other CEO's, the lessons are everywhere.
Interests
Building my business, management, leadership, coaching & playing soccer, reading, and building relationships

I'm not a proud man because I'm a CEO...

I just watched a movie called ATL with T.I. in it. There was a line in it that a young kid trying to get out of the ghetto recited to the CEO of a big company and a guy who was obviously a multi-millionaire. It seems this guy was always trying to hide who he was and only focused on the here and now. The kid reminded him of a quote he gave to a magazine reporter. He said:

"I'm not a proud man because I'm a CEO. I'm a CEO because I'm a proud man."

Obviously I am not a millionaire by any stretch… Continue

Thanks! I'm actually a junior at Illinois State where it took me 2 years to realize I definately should pursue this major over teaching. I would love to open my own resturant some day or possibly something along the lines of health education because I still enjoy the teaching aspect of life. That being said...I'm still learning a lot of things, what has been your entrepreneurial experience?

Deryl, sounds awesome. We definitely share the same passion for helping young entrepreneurs. We both know what comes around goes around--and if we're out there expanding our personal networks, always offering up something to our contacts, opportunities will always be opening up for us.

Will let you know how the progress goes on the new releases for the network...

Deryl, thanks for your participation and feedback. We are really working on building in some good resources so that people come back every single day.

After that we'll be promoting the network big time.

Any ideas how we can work cool companies like dorm buys into our network?

Good to hear Daryl. We really want those chats to be an open discussion about entrepreneurship, we have had a few where we really get into some topics and have a great time.

We understand completely that the network right now doesn't have a ton to offer. But that is what we are working on day and night right now. We feel we have a lot to offer but the big decisions are on how to distribute that information.
